837 A Rare Case of Regional Odontodysplasia in a Young Male

Abstract Background Regional odontodysplasia (ROD) is a rare localised developmental disorder affecting the dental tissues. It presents with specific clinical, radiographic, and histopathological features. There have been less than 180 reported cases of ROD in literature. Case Report A 10-year-old boy was seen paediatric department complaint missing teeth pain left maxilla. Examination revealed retained fragments primary partially erupted upper first permanent molar (UL6) an unusual morphology, cavitation, associated infection. The development rest mouth appeared to be normal. CT scanning maxilla all unerupted were present but had characteristic "ghost-teeth" appearance suggestive regional odontodysplasia. patient underwent surgical exploration removal UL6. remaining area showed no signs Although they poor long-term prognosis, situ order preserve alveolar bone whilst growing. Histological examination thin disorganised tissues large pulp chambers, confirming diagnosis Discussion management challenges, particularly children. This case highlights importance being aware clinical radiographic features disorders aid treatment planning. also demonstrates targeted intervention monitoring improve outcomes for placement prostheses adulthood once growth complete.
